Job Responsibilites:
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical design, development, and testing. Develop new products, product modifications, and application specific systems including analyzers, sample handling devices, sensors, and packaging.

Job Responsibilities Include:
• Design instruments and systems based on customer, market, and serviceability requirements, while minimizing hardware and assembly costs.
• Develop prototypes of new instruments and systems.
• Develop design information and documentation to insure the product can be manufactured correctly the first time.
• Maintain product documentation per ISO requirements.
• Develop and confirm product specifications and performance.
• Develop product assembly and test procedures, and coordinate related design functions with the manufacturing department.
• Provide engineering support for manufacturing, marketing, and service for special purchases, parts change, and procedure changes.
• Perform manufacturing or product engineering duties as required.
• Evaluate design quality and reliability to ensure end customer satisfaction.
• Prepare and review product-related documentation.
• Prepare and review test and manufacturing procedures.
• Communicate with internal departments, customers, and vendors in matters related to product design and development.
• Provide regular progress reports in written form, and orally as requested by the Manager of New Product Development

Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years experience, or an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and less experience.


Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.

Demonstrated skill or experience in the following areas is required:
• The design, development, and testing of process analyzer sampling systems and packaging.
• Design of optical instruments including, but not limited to, UV-VIS spectrophotometers, infrared spectrometers, turbidity meters, and TDL-based instruments.
• Design of vacuum systems and mass spectrometers.
• Design of components using ceramic materials, and bonding of ceramic materials to other substrates.
• Product verification and validation testing.
• Product safety and compliance standards for both North American and European markets
• Properties of materials as applied to product design.
• Heat transfer and thermal design considerations.
• Design for manufacturability.
• Industry standard design practices when using sheet metal, castings, extrusions, plastics, screws, fasteners, and springs.
• Computer Aided design tools, preferably Solid Works and Auto CAD.
