| Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years experience, or an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and less experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
Demonstrated skill or experience in the following areas is required: • The design, development, and testing of process analyzer sampling systems and packaging. • Design of optical instruments including, but not limited to, UV-VIS spectrophotometers, infrared spectrometers, turbidity meters, and TDL-based instruments. • Design of vacuum systems and mass spectrometers. • Design of components using ceramic materials, and bonding of ceramic materials to other substrates. • Product verification and validation testing. • Product safety and compliance standards for both North American and European markets • Properties of materials as applied to product design. • Heat transfer and thermal design considerations. • Design for manufacturability. • Industry standard design practices when using sheet metal, castings, extrusions, plastics, screws, fasteners, and springs. • Computer Aided design tools, preferably Solid Works and Auto CAD.
